Veterans Day live telecast
– Kuja was honored to act as the technical producer of the main celebration of the 2024 National Veterans Day. The event was significant, as it was televised live on Yle TV1 and Yle Areena.
Veterans Day, which is celebrated in honor of Finland’s war veterans and to commemorate the end of the war and the beginning of peace, is celebrated annually on the 27th April. Cities are responsible for organizing the main Veterans Day celebration, and the host city for the event changes each year. The main celebration, as well as the week of Veterans Day, is being planned in broad cooperation led by the city. This year, the main celebration of Veteran’s Day was organized by the city of Vaasa at Botniahalli in Vaasa.
The technical production of the valuable event at Botniahalli in Vaasa was an impressive whole that required considerable planning and advance preparations.
The event was attended by president Alexander Stubb, his wife Suzanne Innes-Stubb, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Defence forses and war veteran Karl-Erik Källström.

- Design and implementation
- Hundreds of planning and working hours were spent planning and preparing the event.
- A team of 15 technicians was responsible for the technical production of the event.

- Structures and technology
- Two trucks of event structures and equipment were needed to build up the event.
- 114 meters of truss structures were used to support the sets and lighting.
- 300 meters of molton curtain were used to divide the venue.
- Two large and high density LED-screens provided visual content during the event. Screens were also used as part of the transitions of the television broadcast.
- Lighting
- 54 Roben moving lights created spectacular lighting in the space.
- Over two hundred computer-controlled lights were used to illuminate the stage and the audience area.
- More than 50 meters of computer-controlled pixel strip lights were used for the effective lighting of the back of the stage.
- More than 50 decorative lights were used for the mood lighting of the Botnia hall.
- The lighting was operated with a ChamSys MagicQ Stadium series lighting console.
- Sound system
- 60 microphones were used for the mixing of the Navy band’s orchestra, speakers and soloists, and they were operated on Yamaha’s QL series mixers.
- A high-quality d&b audiotechnik line array sound system was rigged in the venue.
Lighting of the venue on live television
The lighting requirements required for live television broadcasting were considerable, considering the large size of the performance stage and the audience of more than a hundred people. Lighting solutions were planned for the event, which would work both in illuminating the performers and in creating a visual look. Our lighting plan covered two hundred different lights to ensure that every angle looks good on TV.
